On July 24, the Chinese Central Committee for External Liaison announced that Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee’s Political Bureau, and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee will lead the delegation to Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Wang Huning visits Hanoi as special representative of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. He is expected to arrive in Vietnam on July 25 and stay until July 26.
On July 23, the RoK Embassy in Vietnam said that after receiving news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, the Repubic of Korea (RoK) Government expressed its deep condolences. On the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership of friendship and close cooperation with Vietnam, the RoK Government decided to send a delegation led by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi.
The delegation plans to arrive in Vietnam on July 24 to attend the funeral and leave on July 25.
According to the Japanese Government on July 23, former Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide came to Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on July 25 as a special envoy of Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
In October 2020, Suga Yoshihide came to Vietnam on his first foreign trip after taking office as prime minister, showing special respect for Vietnam and the relationship between the two countries. During this visit, he had a meeting with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Suga Yoshihide is currently an advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance.
According to the announcement of the United States Department of State on July 22, Secretary of State Antony Blinken will come to Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. During the visit, Secretary of State Blinken will continue to promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam.

Former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of New Zealand Don McKinnon will come to Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as a special envoy of the government.
In the announcement, New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters emphasized that sending delegates to the funeral shows the New Zealand Government's recognition of the great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Vietnam-New Zealand relations.
Peters affirmed that Don McKinnon's attendance at the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong "demonstrates the deep respect that New Zealand has for the people and Government of Vietnam."
On July 22, the Lao Government issued a statement announcing a national mourning in memory of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
They also announced that a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Laos led by General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith will visit Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi.
The funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will be held in the form of a state funeral, taking place on July 25 and 26.
