Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Vo Van Hoan, praised the exemplary traditional friendship and steadfast solidarity between the peoples of Vietnam and Cuba. He emphasized that, as a leading economic, cultural, and scientific hub of the country, Ho Chi Minh City takes pride in serving as a solid bridge to further advance Vietnam-Cuba relations.

In recent years, the city has launched numerous initiatives, including trade and investment promotion, cultural exchanges, and practical support for Cuba during challenging times. Ho Chi Minh City regards these efforts not merely as assistance but as a responsibility and source of pride in its role as a close friend to Cuba.

Ho Chi Minh City reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Cuba, not only as a trade bridge but also as a pioneer in exploring opportunities for cooperation in healthcare, education, science, and technology between the two nations.

Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ariadne Feo Labrada, emphasized that over the past 64 years, Cuba and Vietnam have maintained an exemplary international relationship. She highlighted the importance of strengthening and deepening cooperation and friendship across various fields for future generations.

According to Consul General Ariadne Feo Labrada, recent years have witnessed comprehensive development in Cuba-Vietnam relations, particularly through high-level exchanges between the two nations. She noted that General Secretary To Lam's recent visit to Cuba marked a significant milestone in bilateral ties. Building on this strong foundation, the Cuban Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has collaborated with local agencies to organize numerous events that enhance connections among youth, foster exchanges, and strengthen cooperation between localities in both countries, further deepening the friendship between their peoples.

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City presented 100 tablets to the Cuban people through the Cuban Consulate General. Consul General Ariadne Feo Labrada delivered a letter of thanks from Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the city government, recognizing its care, solidarity, and support for Cuba in recent years.

The strong bond between the people of Cuba and Vietnam was established by Cuban national hero José Martí, Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh, and Cuban President Fidel Castro, and has been diligently nurtured by generations of Cuban and Vietnamese leaders.

Cuba was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (on December 2, 1960). President Fidel Castro was only leader of a foreign country to visit the newly liberated area of Quang Tri, Vietnam, in September 1973, amidst the turmoil of war.

During Vietnam's national liberation struggle, the Party, State, and people of Cuba provided invaluable support and assistance to Vietnam, both spiritually and materially. These deep-rooted sentiments have profoundly strengthened the friendship, brotherhood, and comradeship between Vietnam and Cuba during challenging times.

Today, the relationship between the two countries remains strong and close. Shared revolutionary ideals, a resilient spirit of independence and freedom, and aspirations for progress have further deepened the solidarity, loyalty, and selflessness between the Parties, States, and people of the two nations. This special, loyal, and pure friendship is the solid foundation for Vietnam and Cuba to continuously stand side by side, steadfastly building and protecting socialism and advancing the socio-economic development of each country.
