Bac Ninh will facilitate AEON in conducting research and will prepare the related paperwork for the establishment of the new mall, Vietnamplus reported.
Once in operation, it is expected to create about 3,000 jobs and put local farm produce and traditional products on shelves.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Vuong Quoc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the provincial government, highlighted the importance of the project, adding that the province pledged its full support for the company to soon begin the construction.
AEON’s investment will be a driving force for Bac Ninh province to boost its investment attraction in trade and services, he said.
AEON Vietnam General Director Nakagawa Tetsuyuki vowed to soon begin construction and contribute to improvements in the quality of the local urban area and meet residents’ demands.
Previously, in February, AEON Mall Vietnam and Thua Thien-Hue province’s People Committee also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to outline the pathway for the opening of a shopping mall in the locality with total investment capital reaching $160 million, according to VOV.
During the online signing ceremony, Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed great appreciation for the investment proposal put forward by AEON Mall.
The locality will support the company by providing information on investments, as well as the project’s surveying and researching works and other procedures after an investment license was granted for the development of the shopping centre, said Tho.
Furthermore, Thua Thien-Hue province is keen to co-operate with the company to build a shopping mall that is closely associated with the development of raw material areas, thereby contributing to improving the overall quality of the leading products of the province.
In response, Tetsuyuki Nakagawa, general director of AEON Mall Vietnam Co. Ltd., also outlined the desire to co-operate with Thua Thien-Hue in order to research the plan of building a regional-level trade centre in the locality.
