Association for Liaison with OVs Focuses on Attracting Young Members in 2023
Activities in 2022 are highly appreciated
Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor Nguyen Lan Trung, Deputy Chairman and General Secretary of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese said that the Association currently has 298 members with 26 overseas relatives associations, organizations in provinces and cities and 272 individuals.
The Association has 2 affiliated centers including the Center for International Consulting, Investment, Training and Services (ICTS) and the Center for Services and Consulting for Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Entrepreneurs (COSOVIE). In addition, in 2022, the Association established the Organization for Connecting Resources for Education Development of Vietnam, the Legal Support Board, and the Investment Support Forum for overseas Vietnamese.
In 2023, the Association's activities were highly appreciated by the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese. Accordingly, the Association has focused on communication and propaganda of the Party and State's foreign policy to the overseas Vietnamese community, Conclusion No.12-KL/TW of the Politburo on overseas Vietnamese affairs in the new situation.

The Association also coordinated with other partners to host a series of activities and programs such as 11 activities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea. They also continued to organize many Vietnamese language teaching programs for the expatriate community such as the “I love my language” program, learning Vietnamese through songs or fairy tales.
In 2023, the Association will carry out 3 core tasks. Accordingly, the Association will expand its membership, focusing on young members. Activities of the committees, centers, units, and members will be consolidated in the coming time. A specific development plan will also be assigned to each member unit.
A number of projects will be carried out during the year 2023, namely the "Global Vietnamese Fatherland Day" project, "Preserving, embellishing and promoting the cultural and historical values of Long Bien Bridge" project by architect Nguyen Nga, Vietnamese teaching projects through folk songs, traditional fairy tales, or on the virtual platform in 5 different languages.
Besides, the Association will send and receive a number of delegations, including some delegations to understand the situation of overseas Vietnamese in several countries. They will also invite and host overseas Vietnamese business delegations to visit, survey and learn about domestic investment projects.
In addition, the Association will implement the 2023 action plan of 2 centers under the Association including ICTS and COSOVIE as well as activities in collaboration with other partner organizations. The Executive Board Congress is expected in the third or fourth quarter of 2023.
Focusing on connecting the young overseas Vietnamese
At the meeting, Pham Viet Hung, Director of the Department of Economic, Scientific, and Technological Relations under the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese said that the Committee appreciates the activities of the Association in 2022. The Association is a solid support and extension arm for the state management activities over overseas Vietnamese affairs. The activities of the Association are comprehensive and lively, contributing much to the overall work on overseas Vietnamese.

Hung expressed his hopes that the Association will pay more attention to the work of connecting the young generation of overseas Vietnamese in the coming time, to make sure that they know about Vietnam, want to come back to work in Vietnam, then develop our overseas Vietnamese community.
In addition, the Association can further enhance its advisory and consulting role to the Committee to propose the Party and State to issue new directives and guidelines on the occasion of the conclusion of Resolution 36-NQ/TW on overseas Vietnamese affairs.
Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, Chairman of the Association for Liaison with overseas Vietnamese said that in the coming time, the association's activities will be brought to localities, creating cohesion between the central and the local, attracting our compatriots abroad towards the homeland.

“In 2023, the Association will continue to strengthen contacts with individuals and organizations of overseas Vietnamese and perform the important political task of disseminating the Party and State's guidelines and policies. We are working to build the Association to become a reliable address, a friendly home for overseas Vietnamese.
The Association contributes to helping overseas Vietnamese to better understand the situation in the country, and at the same time to receive opinions on important issues related to the rights of Vietnamese people living, studying and working abroad”, said Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh.
