Association of Vietnamese Professionals and Students in the US Marks 10th Anniversary

The 10th edition of a networking event marking its decade, hosted by the Association of Vietnamese Students and Professionals in the US (AVSPUS), took place in Washington from August 19-21.

Celebrating ten productive years, the Association of Vietnamese Professionals and Students in the US recently wrapped up a networking gala.

With the theme “10 years and beyond”, the three-day programme featured an array of activities, including a startup competition, a vocational workshop, football matches and art performances.

At the gala, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung congratulated the association on its achievements, especially in connecting Vietnamese youths and intellectuals in the US together who have served as a bridge promoting Vietnam – US comprehensive partnership.

"I appreciate and am very touched by the association's sense of responsibility to the community and affection towards the homeland and the country, especially during the recent Covid-19 outbreak. Fundraising activities of the "Join Hands for Vietnam" campaign not only help the people in the country but also join hands with American friends even during the most stressful period of the pandemic. This sincere heart has touched the hearts of Vietnamese people and left beautiful images of Vietnam in the eyes of American and international friends.”

In addition, he also emphasized that on the influence of the annual event 'America's Arms' (Vong tay nuoc My) on the generation of young Vietnamese students in the US. "I believe that, with the spirit of solidarity, together with the youth and With your bravery, you will continue to fly high, fly further, conquer new heights and there will be many more "Brilliant Decades" waiting ahead. On that journey, the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in the US will always stand by your side and continue to accompany you.”

The association was founded on June 1, 2013, and became a registered non-profit organization in Massachusetts state on March 3, 2014. It now groups more than 35,000 members throughout the US.

The association has participated in many charity fundraising campaigns since 2020, most notably a campaign for 10,000 doses of vaccines for Vietnam. The one-month campaign attracted hundreds of Vietnamese children and families in the US to send their paintings for auction.

Vong Tay Nuoc My is an annual event organized by the Vietnamese Student Association in the US.

Following the success of the previous ones, this event continued to spread enthusiasm, strengthen the cohesion of the Vietnamese youth and student community, and build a playground with practical values for the future to encourage and create success for the young generation of Vietnam in the US.
