Bac Giang's Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association Celebrates Diplomatic Ties
The Union of Friendship Organizations of Bac Giang province and the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of the province on July 21 eld a meeting to celebrate the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962) and 45 years since the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977).

Attending were Lao Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Chanthaphone Khammanichanh; Vice President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Van Doanh; head of the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Volunteers and Military Experts, Maj. Gen Huynh Dac Huong; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province Mai Son and a large number of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts.
According to Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang People's Committee Mai Son, during the two resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism, thousands of Bac Giang people volunteered to assist Laos with its national resistance war. In which, more than 1,000 people laid down their lives in Laos, thousands have left a part of their bodies on the battlefield. Currently, there are more than 3,000 veterans and former volunteer experts in the province.
In order to continue to cultivate the great friendship relations between Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam, in the coming time, the province will focus on effectively implementing and substantively the contents of cooperation signed with Xaisomboun province by 2025 in six areas including: exchange of delegations and practical experiences sharing; agricultural cooperation; medical; education and training; culture-sports and tourism; and construction investment.
Bac Giang province will strengthens information and education on the friendship relationship between the two countries and the two provinces; promote cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two provinces; contributing to deepening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee also suggested that the Lao Embassy in Vietnam pay attention and continue to promote propaganda and education so that officials and people of all walks of life, especially the young generation, deeply aware of the faithful and transparent relations between the two parties, the two states and the two provinces, thereby, becoming more aware of the responsibility and determination in protecting and preserving this priceless relationship.
Lao Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Chanthaphone Khammanichanh expressed his deep gratitude and sincere thanks to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, especially Bac Giang province for their support, providing effective and timely assistance in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the defense and construction of Laos today.
He affirmed that in each country's struggle for national liberation and independence, the two peoples had stood shoulder to shoulder, traditional special solidarity founded and fostered by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, which has become an invaluable common asset of the two countries over the past four decades.
During that long struggle, full of arduous sacrifices, the Vietnamese people sent their outstanding sons to do international missions to help the Lao revolution. Laos is what it is today thanks to the great help of the Vietnamese people in general and the people of Bac Giang province in particular, the diplomat said.
Bac Giang province is also a training place for many Laotian cadres during the resistance war and many people are currently holding important positions in the Lao Party and Government.

The establishment of diplomatic relations on September 5, 1962, and the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation on July 18, 1977 affirm the special solidarity, cooperation and support, which is a solid legal basis for strengthening and expanding the special relationship between the two countries in the new period.
Lao Deputy Ambassador Khammanichanh hopes that the cooperation relationship between Bac Giang province and Xaisomboun province of Laos would become closer and closer, bringing practical benefits to both sides, and at the same time enhancing the great friendship and friendship. special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
Within the framework of the meeting, the delegates participated in a seminar on the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Former soldiers and military experts reviewed and shared memories, sacrifices and feelings for Laos through touching stories, thereby enhancing education, promoting traditional ties, comprehensive and effective cooperation on all fronts, making the special and loyal relationship rare between the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos forever green and durable.
On this occasion, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Bac Giang province gave gifts to 5 Laotian students; 10 individuals were commended and rewarded for making many contributions to the people-to-people relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
