Descendants of King Ly Thai To Promotes Binh Thuan Tourism in Korea

Vietnam is becoming a favorite destination for international visitors, including Korean tourists and Binh Thuan stands out with a high volume of visitors for its "blue sea, white sand and golden sunshine".

On May 7, Binh Thuan Tourism Promotion Conference took place at Lotte hotel, Seoul (Republic of Korea). The conference was attended by representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in RoK and Mr. Ly Xuong Can, descendant of Vietnamese King Ly Thai To, Vietnam Tourism Ambassador in RoK.

According to Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, this conference aims to introduce and promote Binh Thuan tourism to the RoK market, strengthen connections, expand cooperation and trade opportunities, and promote tourism development between the two sides.

In recent years, cooperation in tourism between Vietnam and RoK has achieved many good results. Many localities in Vietnam have become favorite destinations for tourists from RoK, including Binh Thuan province with "blue sea, white sand, golden sunshine." Statistically, since 2023, Binh Thuan has been visited by many tourists from RoK.

Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh said: “Binh Thuan will accompany local tourism businesses, commit to building preferential policies and stimulus programs for tourism businesses from RoK to bring more guests to the province. In addition, the authority and businesses will focus on building new, attractive tourism programs and products that suit the needs of RoK tourists”.

Besides the mild climate, warm sunshine all year, Binh Thuan is one of the five provinces with the longest coastline in Vietnam (192km long) with many beautiful beaches and high-end tourism products.

Main tourism product lines include green tourism, tourism activities associated with preserving resources and promoting environmental protection; cultural tourism products associated with traditional festivals, etc.

According to Ly Xuong Can, Vietnam Tourism Ambassador in RoK, since its establishment in 2019, the Vietnam Tourism Promotion Office in RoK has always strived to introduce diverse Vietnamese tourism products to RoK market.

The Office has been cooperating with governmental agencies and local authorities in RoK; television stations, publishers, and media agencies to deploy activities to promote the image of Vietnamese tourism in RoK. They supported major Korean television stations such as MBC, MBN and SBS to film videos at some famous tourist destinations in Vietnam, namely Da Lat, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Hai Phong. Videos promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism were also shown at Daegu International Airport.

Ly Xuong Can (Lee Chang Kun in Korean) was born in 1958 in Seoul (RoK). He is the 31st generation descendant of Vietnamese King Ly Thai To and the 26th generation descendant of Vietnamese Prince Ly Long Tuong.

Since 1992, Ly Xuong Can has represented the Ly Hoa Son lineage to return to Vietnam to find his ancestral homeland in Dinh Bang, Tu Son, Bac Ninh. He also joined the campaign to raise fund and contributed to the restoration of the temples of the eight Ly Kings as well as many other activities to promote Vietnam – RoK investment and cooperation.

In 2017, he was appointed as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the 2017-2020 term by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. With effective contributions in the role of Vietnam Tourism Ambassador to RoK, he was then reappointed as Tourism Ambassador for the 2021-2024 term.
