To implement the Prime Minister’s recent directions on COVID-19 prevention and control, the CAAV has asked relevant agencies and units to coordinate closely with localities to apply anti-coronavirus measures appropriate to the risk level in each area and site, according to Vietnamplus.

It demanded that related parties must not lower their guard while minimizing adverse impacts on goods transportation, production and business activities, and people’s lives and pushing ahead with the 5K principle: Khau trang (facemask), Khu khuan (disinfection), Khoang cach (distance), Khong tu tap (no gathering) and Khai bao y te (health declaration).

The security forces at airports have to instruct passengers to make e-health declarations so as to ensure that all passengers will complete the procedure before getting on board.

The CAAV also told airport authorities to disseminate the abovementioned information to all foreign airlines, as well as agencies and units operating at airports nationwide.

Previously, CAAV Director Dinh Viet Thang also asked all aviation staff to strictly follow preventive and control measures including the use of face coverings, frequent disinfection, avoiding large gatherings, keeping a safe distance, and submitting health declarations.

Thang also asked all aviation staff to install and activate the contact tracing app Bluezone which helps detect and deliver early warnings about COVID-19 cases and potential risks of coming into contacts with suspect cases.

Van Don international airport reopens after a month-long COVID-19 hiatus

The Ministry of Transport decided to allow Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh to reopen from 6:01 am on March 3 after the COVID-19 pandemic has been put under control in the locality and the airport is safe to transport passengers.

The airport was temporarily shut down from January 29 after an airport security staff member was confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 pandemic, VOV reported.

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced earlier that it would resume flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh on March 3, thus becoming the first to restart flights to the Van Don airport since the local COVID-19 outbreak began.

From March 3 to 17, one weekly flight will ply the route between the two destinations, on Wednesdays. Flight numbers will be increased to three a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, from March 18 until the end of the year.

Flights will take off at 1:00 pm from HCM City and 3:45 pm from Van Don.

Passengers on the first three flights after resumption will enjoy a discounted fare of VND507,000 (US$22), including taxes and fees, per leg.

Vietnam recorded six new domestic Covid-19 cases Thursday evening in Hai Duong Province, taking the national tally of active cases to 530.

All the new patients, numbered 2843 to 2488, are those who had been in either quarantine zones or locked-down areas since March 2. They are now being treated at a field hospital of the northern province, Vnexpress reported.

Also on Thursday, 22 Covid-19 patients have been announced recovered from the disease.

Since a new Covid-19 wave that has been sweeping through 13 cities and provinces, began on Jan. 28, 879 community transmission cases have been confirmed. Northern Hai Duong Province is the epicenter with 695 cases.

Vietnam has recorded 2,488 Covid-19 cases so far, with 35 deaths.
