Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival in Ostrava, Czech Republic

The Mid-Autumn Festival held by the Vietnamese Association in North Morava and Ostrava was held on Sep. 18 to enhance cultural exchange and help the local community understand more about Vietnam.

On September 18, the Mid-Autumn Festival was held at the cultural center of Ostrava city, the capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic.

The festival is an annual event initiated by the Vietnamese Association in North Morava and Ostrava to preserve traditional culture amongst the Vietnamese community in Czech and enhance cultural exchange, contributing to nurturing the friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

The festival was attended by Ambassador of Vietnam to the Czech Republic Thai Xuan Dung, President of the Czech-Vietnamese Friendship Parliamentarians Group Leo Luzar, President of North Morava Minority Council Vit Slováček, Deputy Mayor of Ostrava Prazak Zbynek, other Czech authorities, representatives of Vietnamese associations, parents and second-and third-generation Vietnamese children in North Morava and Ostrava.

Addressing the event, Deputy Mayor of Ostrava Zbynek expressed his joy to attend the 2021 Mid-Autumn Festival of the Vietnamese community, highlighting the importance of the festival in encouraging young Vietnamese in the country to continue preserving the Vietnamese culture, helping to enhance the friendship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Zbynek praised the second and third generation of Vietnamese in Czech, especially their studiousness and high achievements, and expressed his belief that the Vietnamese community would continue to integrate well into Czech society.

On his part, Ambassador Xuan Dung underlined the importance of the Mid-autumn Festival for the Vietnamese community in preserving traditional culture and helping Czech friends understand better about Vietnam.

On this occasion, the ambassador thanked and hoped that Czech authorities would continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community, especially the young generation, to integrate into local society, contributing to developing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

President of North Morava Minority Council Vit Slováček underlined his appreciation of the Vietnamese community’s integration into the local society and showed his belief that the young generation would continue to preserve the Vietnamese culture even as they noted that “we highly appreciate the integration of the Vietnamese community, especially they blended into the Czech society.

President of the Czech-Vietnamese Friendship Parliamentarians Group Leo Luzar noted that he felt the care of the Vietnamese community for the young generation through the festival, expressing his hope that the young Vietnamese would treasure this value as they integrated into the society of their second homeland – the Czech Republic.

For his part, the President of the Vietnamese Association in North Morava and Ostrava Trinh Tan hoped that the generation of Vietnamese studying in the Czech Republic would blend extensively into the political and socio-economic life of the local society.

He also expressed his hope that young Vietnamese would attend free Vietnamese classes provided by the association with support from local authorities to maintain linkage to Vietnam and contribute to the development of both countries.

According to Tan, the organization of Vietnamese cultural preservation activities was supported by local authorities, especially in securing funding and venues.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Association in North Morava and Ostrava conferred certificates of recognition and presents to Vietnamese students with excellent academic achievements to encourage them to work harder and become great examples for ethnic minorities in the Czech Republic.
