During the meeting, Dr. Viboon Pensuk, Vice President of Udon Thani University, mentioned that the university has collaborated with 14 Vietnamese educational institutions to conduct exchange activities, including internships and multicultural experiences, over recent years.

At present, Udon Thani University is home to 212 Vietnamese students enrolled in various majors. Notably, since November of the previous year, the university has inaugurated the Center for Vietnamese Studies. This center is dedicated to facilitating research and comprehensive education on Vietnam, offering data and a multifaceted understanding of the country, and fostering enhanced comprehension and collaboration between the two nations.

Recognizing Udon Thani University's significant accomplishments over its century-plus history, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung is confident that the institution will continue to grow in prestige and strength. He believes it will play a crucial role in educating new generations of intellectuals, thereby contributing to Thailand's development and its status as a leading developed nation globally.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung has stated that the Center for Vietnamese Studies at Udon Thani University is the inaugural center of its kind to be established and operational in Thailand. He expresses his aspiration for the center to collaborate with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen to expand its range of activities. This expansion aims to enhance the understanding of Vietnam among students, researchers, and Thai individuals who are keen on learning about the country.

During the event, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung gifted the Center two works by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: "Some Theoretical and Practical Issues on Socialism and the Path to Socialism in Vietnam" and "Building and Developing a Comprehensive and Modern Vietnamese Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy, Imbued with the Identity of 'Vietnamese Bamboo'."

Duong Bich Ngoc, a board member of the Center, mentioned that the Center for Vietnamese Studies has organized a range of hallmark events. These activities encompassed a Lunar New Year celebration for Thai students learning Vietnamese at the center and Vietnamese students studying in Thailand. The event attracted considerable attention from many young Thais keen on learning about Vietnamese culture and society.

The Center collaborated in hosting a Language and Culture Camp in Nong Khai province, aimed at high school students from across Thailand enrolled in Vietnamese-language programs. This initiative was instrumental in fostering an enthusiasm for learning Vietnamese among Thai students nationwide.

The Center has also engaged in exchange programs, sending Thai students to study Vietnamese in Vietnam and arranging for Vietnamese students to undertake internships and short-term studies in Thailand.

Duong Bich Ngoc aspires for the Center to periodically offer basic Vietnamese courses in the future, with a long-term objective of concentrating on research into Vietnamese language and culture.

Phiraphat Thongkaem, a freshman at the Faculty of Vietnamese and English Pedagogy at Udon Thani University, mentioned that he has learned to speak basic Vietnamese sentences after just a few sessions at the Center. "I have a deep affection for Vietnam, its cuisine, and the experience of traveling there, which is why I am eager to learn Vietnamese," said Phiraphat.
