Da Nang International Airport has been used for the past weeks to receive flights repatriating Vietnamese citizens stranded abroad due to the COVID-10 pandemic and bringing foreign specialists to Vietnam. However, after a suspect case with the SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected in the city on July 24, the decision was made so that the city can focus on epidemic prevention and control before reopening its skies for international flights.
The suspect case, a 57-year-old Vietnamese man, was said to have tested positive for the virus three times, and doctors are awaiting the results to be confirmed by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
If the test is confirmed, this is the first locally-transmitted infection case Vietnam has detected after 99 days in a row.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan confirmed 193 new coronavirus cases by 5:00 pm of July 24, according to akipress.com. The total number of confirmed cases reached 19,179.
