COVID-19: Singapore's Temasek Foundation sent 10 ventilators to Vietnam

Singapore-based Temasek Foundation just donated 10 ventilators, which are crucial for the survival of severe COVID-19 cases, to Vietnam in support of the fight against the virus.

Tan Weiming, Chargé d'Affaires of the Singaporean Embassy in Vietnam and representatives from Vietnam's Ministry of Health, were at Hanoi- based Noi Bai International Airport on March 29 evening for the turnover.

Before that, according to correspondents of Vietnam News Agency in Singapore, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tao Thi Thanh Huong, on behalf of the Government of Vietnam, sincere thanks to the Temasek Foundation for this meaningful donations.

The ten ventilators are being sent to five frontline hospitals, namely the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Military Hospital 103, Duc Giang General Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital and 7A Military Hospital. This is the second batch of relief aid after Temasek's batch of relief including medical machinery and test kits.

In the context of COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam is entering a decisive period, this support from the Temasek Foundation is a practical action that contributes to Vietnam's efforts in the prevention and treatment of disease.

This is a testament to the good affection that the people and Government of Singapore have for the Vietnamese people and the strategic partnership between the two countries, Huong said at the sendover ceremony.

The Ambassador affirmed that she would continue to support and coordinate with Temasek as a bridge to promote people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in areas where Temasek is interested in the future.

“Vietnam has worked hard to contain COVID-19. As ASEAN Chair, it has also galvanised support among Member States for greater coordination to combat the epidemic. We wish Vietnam all the best in its battle against COVID-19,” Singapore Embassy in Hanoi and Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City said in a statement posted in their Facebook Fanpage.

Since the beginning of March 2020, Temasek Foundation International has proposed and received approval from the Government of Vietnam to sponsor 10 ventilators for 5 Vietnamese hospitals, namely National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Military Hospital 103, Duc Giang General Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital and 7A Military Hospital. This is the second batch after Temasek's first batch of relief for Vietnam’s MoH including medical machinery and test kits.

According to MoH, Temasek Foundation International is a Singapore-based non-profit philanthropic organisation that funds and supports programmes that aim to build capabilities in communities in Asia and beyond.

It supports programmes that build human and social capital development and contribute towards a more vibrant and connected global community.

Temasek Foundation said it will continue to supply 20 oxygen generators for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time./.
