Another morning that Vietnam records no fresh community infection.
The 6 am news on October 9 of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reports that Vietnam reaches another 24h of no community cases reported. 1023 patients are cured, death toll remains at 35.
Among patients under treatment, 5 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 8 twice and 5 thrice. At present, 14,250 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit regions are under quarantine.
Thus, there have been 37 days that Vietnam has not recorded cases in the community. However, the National Steering Committee stated that the pandemic situation worldwide still complicatedly develops, many countries have to face another outbreak after loosening control and quarantine measures. Therefore, it is recommended that citizens keep on implementing COVID-19 control methods as regulated.

German press praises Vietnam’s anti-pandemic model
Analyzing anti-pandemic models between developed and developing countries, the article on October 6 on German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung said Vietnam has acted as a positive role model for controlling and preventing the novel virus.
Creativeness and effective preventive measures, not wealth or higher education ground, play the decisive role in the battle against the coronavirus outbreak, it said, highlighting while the number of COVID-19 cases are increasing in most of the European countries, Vietnam, Mongolia and Thailand virtually wipe out the virus. The pooled testing initiative really works for countries that have small capacity in testing, it said.
Germany, which has announced nearly 10,000 deaths associated with COVID-19 should learn experience from Vietnam – a country with a population of some 100 million people that has seen only 35 fatalities.

On October 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health signed an urgent document related to the paid medical isolation plan for experts, managers, investors, skilled workers entering Vietnam from Tan Son Nhat airport.
Accordingly, in order to facilitate and avoid unnecessary procedures arising in the medical isolation organization of foreign experts, those who come to/from the provinces of Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Long An, Tien Giang are suggested to conduct quarantine in local facilities instead of staying in Ho Chi Minh City.
However, HCMC shall consider offering quarantine and health monitoring in the city due to the demand and request of experts and the local People's Committees.
