It is scheduled to open to tourists during the Reunification Day (April 30) holiday. The launching of the bridge is expected to be one of the province's most important tourism highlights.

Hoang Manh Duy, a representative of Moc Chau Island, said that the Bach Long Glass Bridge was built across two mountains with a length of 290m and the craggy part on the cliff is 342m long. The width of the main bridge deck is 2.4m and the width of the glass road on the cliff is 1.5m. The bridge connects to Chim Than Cave (or God Bird Cave) which owns natural stalactites associated with the legend of the god bird according to local residents for hundreds of years.

The bridge, along with the natural scenery and landscape of the Northwest mountains and forests, draws in the most aspiring photographers to capture this beautiful spot.

Long Trung Tam - Chairman of the People's Committee of Moc Chau district, said: Bach Long glass bridge is preparing procedures to be recognized by the world Guinness as the longest glass bridge in the world.

Hoang Manh Duy, a representative of Moc Chau Island Tourist Area, said when it is opened, only 500 people will be allowed to walk on the bridge at a time to ensure safety.

Bach Long bridge has 3 layers of 40mm thick glass. If a glass is broken, it is still capable of withstanding a force of 5 tons. The glass has been tested when a truck is allowed to pass and after being installed on the bridge, it has also been used for cars to run on the bridge.

Bach Long glass bridge has two 30-foot towers. The bottom of the tower is firmly designed by experts, in which has been drilled deep and held with Korean bearing cables.

The height of the bridge deck to the ground is 150m. The entire cable car system is also imported from Korea and each cable car bundle has 7 strands with a diameter of 50 mm each.

Regarding the safety factor, it has been inspected and tested by experts and is rated as one of the glass bridges with a safety factor many times greater than the actual load capacity.

Bach Long glass bridge has a total width of 2.4m. According to the plan, the glass bridge that is prepared to set a world record will be opened to visitors on this occasion of April 30.

Once the bridge is put into use, this bridge will be a pride and symbol of Vietnam and ethnic minority groups. It also has the potential to become one of the most famous tourist destinations of Son La and helps promote local tourism.

In 2019, Vietnam opened two first glass bridges for walking, the 60-meter long Rong May (Cloud Dragon) in Lai Chau province and the 80-meter long Tinh Yeu (Love) in Son La province.

Currently, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon in the western Hunan Province of China is home to the world's longest and highest glass bridge, which is about 430 meters long.
