Discover Binh Thuan’s Heavenly Island
Cu Lao Cau (also known as Hon Cau) possesses a wild and pristine beauty that is gifted by nature, long, sandy white beaches, crystal clear water, and coral reefs, which are loved by many tourists, adventurers, and aspiring photographers.
This island is also the Hon Cau marine reserve, where sea turtles come here to breed every year. There are hand-crafted models of sea turtles and colorful fish that attract travelers to take pictures and post them on their social media.
Surrounding Cu Lao Cau is a coral shelf about 2 km long, preserved quite intact with 234 types of colorful coral. With swimming goggles and life jackets, tourists can immerse themselves in the cool, clear water and discover marine life. There is currently no fresh water on the island, so people are advised to bring their own water bottles or buy them from a small grocery store.
In Cu Lao Cau, there are two distinct seasons. The southern wind season lasts from January to June in the lunar calendar when the sea is calm. There are many boats crowded over the island. The wind season lasts from July to December in the lunar calendar, with strong winds and waves that are not suitable for swimming. So the best time to visit the island is from April to August when nature is the most gorgeous of the year.
Cu Lao Cau is quite small, only about 1.5km, so it will only take travelers about 1-2 hours to walk around to visit the island. It still retains its wild appearance and there are not many houses around here. Surrounded by all four sides is the vast, beautiful sea. This place is really suitable for those who love the blue sea and want to enjoy a tranquil time for themselves.
Walking around the island, tourists can easily see the large rocks with interesting and strange shapes stretching towards the sea. People can choose a comfortable spot to sit and listen to the calming sound of the waves, and breathe in the fresh atmosphere. Do not forget to bring water and light snacks to stay full and hydrated.
The sea is always a perfect place for travelers to watch the color change of the sky. They can also choose a suitable location to watch the sunrise and sunset. The sunset on the island will make everyone feel excited when they admire the amazing deep blue sky, and the clouds form a shimmering curtain of light.
The most interesting time of the day is when the sun goes out, the heat starts to cool down, and gather together to prepare dinner. This is the perfect destination for camping overnight and waking up in the early morning to watch the warm, peaceful dawn.
Remember to try the delicious seafood dishes in Cu Lao Cau. The seafood dishes available at Cau Island are also very rich with redfish, shellfish, snails, and other sea ingredients. Travelers can go to two shacks on the island to pre-order food for camping or buy ready-made fresh seafood on the way down.
With a semi-desert terrain, mainly with many low shrubs, Cu Lao Cau has the typical sunshine and wind of the climate of the South Central Coast. Tourism on the island has many limitations, which are suitable for young people who love to explore natural beauty.
