The Dong Nai Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations on August 15 organized a 2024 meeting for foreign non-governmental organizations and donors themed "Innovation in cooperation and sustainable development."
The program was attended by representatives of nearly 100 foreign non-governmental organizations, FDI enterprises and associations in Dong Nai province.
According to the program report, in 2023, Dong Nai province cooperated with 23 foreign non-governmental organizations and donors, implementing 26 aid packages with a total committed value of nearly VND 110 billion (USD 4.3 million). In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, Dong Nai has cooperated with 21 organizations, implementing 22 programs, projects and non-projects, with a total committed value of more than VND 74 billion (USD 2.9 miliion), an increase of seven projects compared to the same period last year. These projects have contributed to promoting development in the fields of health, education, environmental protection and disease prevention, while enhancing understanding and cooperation between Dong Nai people and international friends.

Speaking at the program, Nguyen Thi Hoang, vice president of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, said that cooperation with foreign non-governmental organizations is an important task in people-to-people diplomacy, which has always received special attention from the provincial leaders. Currently, Dong Nai needs material and technical support from foreign non-governmental organizations, international friends and the social responsibility participation of FDI enterprises to jointly solve challenges of social security, education, vocational training, health and environmental protection.
At the program, the Dong Nai Friendship Union introduced a list of aid calls for the 2024-2025 period with more than 60 projects. These projects focus on education, vocational training, culture, sports, tourism and health, with a total budget of more than VND 126 billion (USD 5 million).
The Dong Nai People's Committee has expressed gratitude to 18 foreign non-governmental organizations, FDI enterprises and international associations that have made many positive contributions to the sustainable development of the province from 2023 to present. On this occasion, foreign non-governmental organizations and FDI enterprises also pledged to fund the implementation of projects in Dong Nai, with a total commitment of more than VND 3 billion (USD 119.712).
Speaking to the press, Nguyen Thanh Tri, president of the Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations, highlighted their determination to continue to promote the experiences and effective methods from previous years such as conducting surveys on the actual needs of local people, while adding new methods. Over the years, the Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations has closely coordinated with departments and branches to grasp and assess the local social needs. From the results of this survey, they create a list of projects in need of aid, submitted to the provincial leaders to call for and mobilize funding.
"Dong Nai has the advantage of having many FDI enterprises operating in the area and international business associations. We take advantage of this advantage to call for socially responsible contributions from businesses, in order to promote the sustainable development of the province," Tri concluded.
