Enhancing Tourism Opportunities Between Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos

Within the framework of the forum "Kon Tum Tourism - Potential and Prospects" from April 21 to 24, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province will hold a ceremony to announce the Plan for Tourism Development in the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam Development Triangle Area for 2021-2025 with a vision towards 2030.

Director of the Kon Tum Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Binh informed about the potential and strengths of the provincial tourism at a press conference on the afternoon of April 18.

The Plan for Tourism Development in the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam Development Triangle Area for 2021-2025 with a vision towards 2030 was approved at the Summit of the 3 countries in November 2020.

The three countries will cooperate to develop a common border area including five provinces of Vietnam: Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Binh Phuoc along with the provinces of Laos and Cambodia.

"The plan focuses on infrastructure investment activities, common tourism products, to develop tourism and trade. These things help bring the region's tourism to a sustainable development, becoming an attractive destination of the world," said Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration for Tourism (VNAT) Ha Van Sieu.

Director of the Kon Tum Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Binh informed about the potential and strengths of the provincial tourism at a press conference on the afternoon of April 18.

According to Nguyen Van Binh, the province is blessed by nature with many beautiful landscapes, unique culture, and potential for tourism development.

Kon Tum has Ngoc Linh mountain in Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve, where there are many rare flora and fauna including Ngoc Linh ginseng. The province has tri-border marker Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia; Mang Den ecotourism site - known as an ecological paradise with fresh air, cool all year round.

This is also a land with a long history and revolutionary tradition, preserving many unique cultural values of the Central Highlands, creating a picture of diverse community activities.

"With the potential and advantages, Kon Tum along with many localities across the country has begun to resume socio-economic activities under new normal conditions.

Kon Tum has been preparing to restart tourism activities and open to welcome domestic and foreign tourists. The province pays special attention to the activities of local, regional and international linkages between Kom Tum, and the Cambodia - Vietnam - Laos triangle in developing a tour connecting the three countries' tourism," said Binh.

Together with the forum, the Plan for Tourism Development in the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam Development Triangle Area for 2021-2025 with a vision towards 2030, is expected to activate tourism in Kon Tum and other countries in the region. This contributes to increasing the number of domestic and foreign tourists coming to Kon Tum particularly, and the Central Highlands region.
