The Fansinpan summit is 9km from the center of Sapa Town, Lao Cai Province, Vietnam. It has a height of 3,147m and costs about 2 days to conquer by hiking. Prior to 2016, Fansipan used to attract at least 1,000 trekkers daily thanks to the magnificent view from the summit and the beautiful, not-too-tricky path climbing up. However, there was a cable car built to take you from the mountain’s foot to a station near the summit in February 2016, which expanded tourism to a sky-high attraction.

Cloud hunting is an interesting activity, which depends on time, temperature, climate, and even luck. Important conditions in a cloud hunt include windy weather, lots of fog, and no rain. Each year, from early November, tourists begin coming to Fansipan to hunt for beautiful clouds that often appear after rains.

It is said that this mountain is the best place for cloud hunting. Come here in winter and tourists can see the town is in the middle of the cloud sea. December is the perfect time to visit Sapa get to Fansipan Peak and see the cloud under your feet. Fansipan is also the easiest peak to reach and hunt the cloud here as there’s the cable car which takes people nearer to the top of the mountain.
