Expats in Phu Nhuan District Receive Gifts and Support for Vaccination

Phu Nhuan District Party Committee coordinated with many agencies and units to visit and give gifts to seven foreigners facing difficulties because of the pandemic in the area on the afternoon of Aug. 27.

Samynyi Andri, 25, from Ukraine, currently lives in a rented house in Doan Thi Diem alley, ward 1. Before the pandemic, Andri worked for an English center in Phu Nhuan. Andri said he had had a hard time, losing his job several months ago and having no income for many months. He has thanked the authority for their support.

A group of three English teachers living in Phan Dang Luu alley in ward 1, Payle Curtis Angus (South African), Alexander Mohammed (German) and Soliman Hossam Banhasy Jbrahim Abdelka (Egyptian) have received the gifts.
Angus said: "Over the past months, I used all my savings. So did my friends. If the pandemic lengthens, we will not have enough money for monthly rent. We hope to come go back to work."

Amor Laongco Garcia, 46, a Filipino, self-employed, said that she had lived in the city for more than 10 years but never encountered any situation where she could not work or go out.
"Everything is going badly because of the pandemic. My relatives at home are also very worried, but I encourage them that I am fine," she said.

On the same day, Phu Nhuan district authorities organized the vaccination for 49 foreigners, the last expats living in the district to be vaccinated.

Previously, the district health sector inoculated 502 expats in the district. As planned, the 49 foreigners were vaccinated on the afternoon of August 27.

All expats in Phu Nhuan district have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19. According to the local people's committee, the locality will continue to provide injections if there are expats who have not been vaccinated.

People who are not eligible for vaccination before, including the elderly and people with illness, were also injected on the same day.

Phung Van Thanh (90 years old), living in ward 10, arrived at Ho Van Hue Primary School on Aug. 26 afternoon to get vaccinated. His health was quite stable, but his legs were weak. He could not walk on his own.
"A few weeks ago, there was a vaccine rollout in the neighborhood, but I couldn't come, so I came to get here,' Phung Van Thanh said.

"Phu Nhuan residents and expats in the district have equal chances to get vaccinated. We will continue to review and promote the works in the coming days," said Huynh Dang Linh, Standing Deputy Secretary of Phu Nhuan District Party Committee.
