First ASEAN+3 Film Festival Held in Prague

The ASEAN +3 Film Festival opened on September 1, with the participation of nine countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK). This is the first ASEAN +3 film festival to be held in Prague, the Republic of Czech.
More than 400 people, including representatives of the Czech government and diplomatic missions to the Czech Republic, people from all walks of life and media, attended the opening ceremony held at the Municipal Library of Prague, and watched nine short films.
In 10 days, the audience will enjoy cinematic works of Vietnam and participating countries, many films participating in the festival have won many prestigious awards. The themes of the films are diverse such as romance, adventure, fiction, documentaries and dramas.

The film festival will last until September 10. Select films from the above-mentioned countries will be screened one per night from Friday, including a Vietnamese movie and a promotional video.
The short clip “Vietnam – endless beauty” by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, introducing to international friends and guests great footage of beautiful scenery, majestic and poetic nature of Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the movie “Cha cong con” (Father and Son) directed by Luong Dinh Dung, was adapted from a short story of the same name written by Dung in 1995.

The main character in the movie is a little boy named Ca. He lives with his blind father, who has spent his entire life by the river. Ca’s world revolves around the river and everything associated with it.
Ca dreams of touching the clouds and of visiting the fairy tale lands described by his father. However, the boy suffers from an incurable disease and cannot wait for the day his father has enough money to take him to the doctor.
The film won the Best Cinematography award at the 17th Milano International Film Festival, Best Foreign Feature and Special Jury Award for Outstanding Cinematography at the 26th Arizona International Film Festival, and Indie Spirit Best Storyline award at the 15th Boston International Film Festival.
“Father and Son” was a great success when it was released in Vietnam, won domestic and international awards and was screened in many countries including USA, Italy, Canada, Estonia, India, Thailand, Laos, Ugrugay, Iran, Spain, Saudi Arabia.
