When winter fades away and spring comes, Ea Kao Lake seems to come alive again in its gorgeous beauty: the crystal-like water, and the sea of trees with colorful leaves.

Ea Kao Lake is not only an artificial lake of great value for Daklak Province but also a famous tourist destination that attracts many visitors each year.

Located about 12km from Buon Ma Thuot city, Ea Kao Lake is where many people come to enjoy relaxation and find themselves emerging in the natural scenery and tranquility.

According to Ede ethnic group, Ea Kao is a lake that will never dry out. In the rainy season, the water level of Ea Kao lake can rise up high and nearly fill the dam. Even at the peak of the dry season, the water is only a little bit lower than half. Each moment, the lake has its own poetic and romantic beauty.

What is interesting about the lake is that even though it was built in 1983, its wilderness trait still remains strong. Underneath the lake is a diverse ecosystem with different species of fish and shrimp.

Despite being familiar with Ea Kao Lake, Luong Viet Cuong (25 years old, living in Daklak), a young architect who has a great passion for photography and nature discovery, never stops being amazed by the gorgeous appearance of this place.

The calm, green lake surface blends with the overlapping mountains, the tranquil forest in the changing season have created a wild and rustic painting of Ea Kao Lake.

Viet Cuong said, to be able to take a good picture of Ea Kao Lake, he had to wait until the early morning, when the sun just began to rise, and the thin veil of fog still covered the sky. Through these photographs, he wants to promote tourism for Buon Ma Thuot and the majestic Central Highlands.

Ea Kao is the most beautiful in the early morning, from 5 to 7 a.m, when you can still feel the chilling cold and breathe the fresh air, and watch the thin veil of fog slowly dissipating to reveal the charming lake.

“I love the peacefulness and quietness that Ea Kao lake brings, from the calm water to the colorful forest. These characters make this place unique that no other places can compare”, Viet Cuong said.
