According to US News & World Report, the capital city offers beautiful weather come winter. Daytime temperatures comfortably rest in the 60s and 70s, and rain showers are infrequent.

"You'll be able to visit top attractions like the Temple of Literature and indulge in a steaming bowl of pho (Vietnam’s most popular kind of noodle soup) for dinner," it suggested.

Elsewhere, Honolulu-Oahu in the US topped the list of best winter vacations. As temperatures begin to drop in other parts of the world, Hawaii's capital remains comfortable with average highs in the low to mid-80s (°F).

The other places to make the top five include Sydney of Australia, Lucerne of Switzerland, the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador, and St. Lucia in the eastern Caribbean.

US News compiled the list of the best winter vacations based on expert analysis and reader votes.

Earlier, Hanoi jumped from 54th position in 2019 to 27th in this year's Telegraph Travel Awards, which ranks best cities in the world based on readers' votes, VGP reported.

The Vietnamese capital has moved up 20 notches to 129th position out of 173 cities in the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU)'s livability ranking this year, making it one of the top five biggest risers.
