Hanoi continues to shut schools to curb coronavirus infections

Over two millions students, from kindergarten to high school levels in the city, would study online, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh.
The city leader also asked the Department of Education and Training to let universities and colleges to apply the method.
With the decision, Hanoi has become one of the13 localities that continue to shut schools after the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday. The others are An Giang, Ben Tre, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, Can Tho, Dien Bien, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, HCM City and Thanh Hoa.
Schools had been initially scheduled to resume on February 17 following the Tet break.

Hanoi has recorded 33 COVID-19 patients since late last month out of the nation's 638 community cases.
Earlier, a Japanese man who died at Somerset West Point building in Hanoi's Tay Ho District tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The Hanoi Centre for Disease Control said although the cause of his death has yet to be confirmed, his swab sample showed he contracted the coronavirus.
Local authorities have quarantined 139 hotel employees and guests, and sterilised the area surrounding the building./.
| In the past 12 hours to 6pm on February 15, 40 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Vietnam, raising the national count to 2,269, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Among the new cases, 38 are in Hai Duong province and two in Hanoi. The two newly-detected patients in Hanoi were F1 cases of patient 2229, a Japanese citizen found dead in a hotel in Hanoi on February 13. All 38 new cases in Hai Duong are linked to the outbreak in Chi Linh district. The same day, seven patients were given the all clear, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,541. The death toll remains at 35. A total of 154,992 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined nationwide. Among patients still under treatment, 43 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2, and 31 twice./. |
