Hanoi's Friendship Association Promotes Vietnam-France Exchanges and Cooperation
The Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Hanoi will continue connecting and building cooperation programs between the two countries, and helping boost the capital city’s new 2022-2027 tenure.

Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Hanoi on August 24 organized the sixth congress, the 2022-2027 tenure, during which a 35-member executive committee was elected, with Nguyen Lan Trung re-elected as president.
The congress also elected four vice presidents, including Tran Quyet Thang, permanent deputy secretary of the District Party Committee, chairman of the People's Council of Hai Ba Trung District; Nguyen Thai Dung, head of the CFVG Alumni Association; People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh; and Nguyen Thi Le Huong, director of Viettravel Hanoi Company.
Dam Minh Thuy, vice dean of the Faculty of French - National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) - Hanoi National University was elected by the General Assembly to hold the position of general secretary of the association.
Other major tasks of the association in this term are to promote the images as well as achievements gained during the renewal and integration process of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular, to intensify friendship exchanges, and to expand its membership.
It will also exert efforts to successfully organize activities in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations in 2023.

Speaking at the congress, Tran Thi Phuong, standing vice president of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO) appreciated the effectiveness of the activities of the Vietnam - France Friendship Association of Hanoi in the 2017-2022 term, especially the positive contributions to the overall achievements in people-to-people diplomacy of the capital.
To continue promoting the role of the friendship association in Hanoi in the new term, Phuong suggested that the association maintain its relationship with the French Embassy and French partners through coordinate to organize exchange activities and strengthen the exchange of delegations to tighten the relations between the people of the two countries; organizing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
At the same time, actively promote exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, and tourism; and expand cooperation relationships with friendship organizations in France, contributing to promoting the Vietnam - France strategic partnership to new heights.

Sophie Maysonnave, counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Activities under the French Embassy in Vietnam, affirmed that France has always attached itself to the Francophone bloc and this is also one of the reasons why Hanoi always occupies an important position for France. Hanoi has the best French language training institutions at all levels. It also contributes to building the friendship between the two countries by preserving the architectural heritages of Vietnam and France.
The Vietnam-France Friendship Association, she said, has always been a close friend accompanying France and the French Ambassadors in all meaningful activities.
It is also an important partner that helps maintain the unique relationship between the two nations, she added.
