6th Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao World Championship Takes Place in France

The final round of the 6th Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao World Championship, which featured approximately 500 masters and pupils from 15 nations in Europe, America, Africa, and Vietnam, was held on the evening of July 23 in Paris after three days of thrilling action.

The finalists took part in a variety of competitions during the final round, including the Khai Mon Quyen, Song Luyen Dao, Luong Nghi Kiem Phap, Long Ho Quyen, Lao Mai Quyen, etc.

International Grandmaster Tran Nguyen Dao, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the World Federation of Traditional Vietnamese Martial Arts, head of the Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao in France said: "After two years of being affected by Covid- 19, the force of Viet Vo Dao decreased sharply, but did not expect this year's championship to attract such a large number of participants."

"There are many teams from Africa, including Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and, especially for the first time, contestants coming from Vietnam, the country of Viet Vo Dao, in addition to competitors from Europe, including France, Belgium, Germany, and America," Tran Nguyen Dao added.

Grandmaster Tran Nguyen Dao commented on the contenders' credentials, saying that after the pandemic, the level of martial arts students in European countries had somewhat fallen, but the African delegations were much better than before, and as a result, they had won quite a lot of medals.

The judges awarded 111 medals at the conclusion of the 6th Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao World Championship, of which 38 were gold, 35 silver, and 38 bronze, according to Guerrib Mai, a member of the organizing committee. France, Senegal, and Belgium are at the top of the medal standings.

Thomas Ignestat, French nationality, won the gold medal for Lao Mai Quyen, shared: "I have been practicing Viet Vo Dao for 27 years. During the world championship competition in Algeria 16 years ago, I won the Silver medal. And this time, the Gold medal is a worthy reward for what I have devoted to this favorite martial art."

Young Colombo Brice believes that the gold medal is not only his own but also the team and the country Burkina Fasso you represent. You shared: "The whole team is very proud to bring glory to Burkina Faso country".

This year's competition was attended by a Vietnamese delegation made up of six IVS International School martial arts competitors. Even though it was the delegation's first time competing in an international competition abroad, they also took home 4 medals—3 gold and 1 bronze—for their efforts.

"There was a lot of pain in the process of practicing, but I think this outcome is worth it," while Doan Duc Tam said, "extremely glad to accomplish such a high achievement in this competition, because it is worth the effort invested in the training process," said Quach Cao Long.
