The US non-governmental organization Helen Keller International (HKI) in Vietnam on May 6 has collaborated with Tra Vinh Center for Disease Control visited each schools in the province to offer TOMS canvas shoes to students from 18 schools of ChildSight project.

This is an activity within the framework of the shoe-donation program implemented by TOMS company (US) through HKI and Vietnam Red Cross Society.

More than 1,300 pairs of shoes will be delivered to students in difficult circumstances or have good academic results in Tra Vinh city and Tieu Can district.

Not just Tra Vinh, many pairs of shoes have been delivered to students in Son La, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh provinces and many disadvantaged localities across the country.

Founded in 1915, HKI is dedicated to saving the sight and lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. Their organization combats the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition by establishing programs based on evidence and research in vision, health and nutrition.

ChildSight program was one of the important activity of HKI Vietnam to improve the eyes examined system for detecting and transferring patients to large hospitals. Furthermore, ChildSight builds the comprehensive eye caring model, included the human resource training, providing facilities, eyes examination, offering glasses and observing services and variety propagated activities./.
