Ho Chi Minh City Authority Presented Bookcase to Vietnamese Community in South Korea
The working trip aims to deepen relations between Ho Chi Minh City and key localities in South Korea amid the complicated global situation. It also looks to expand development space, find new motivation for the city's economic growth, and enhance Ho Chi Minh City's position in the international arena.
According to Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan, Ho Chi Minh City is considered the regional and national center in many aspects by the Central Government. "Ho Chi Minh City is an economic, educational, training and medical center," he said.

With a population of 10 million people, each year Ho Chi Minh City contributes 22% to the country's GRDP and 27% of the budget. The overseas Vietnamese communities significantly contribute to the city's general development.
Acknowledging opinions from the Vietnamese community in South Korea, the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to coordinate with organizations in the city to connect with organizations in South Korea to have specific exchange and association programs with specific and meaningful activities.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan presented a Vietnamese bookcase to the Vietnamese Association in South Korea. The gift responds to the Government's project "Day of Honoring the Vietnamese Language among the Vietnamese community abroad from 2023 to 2030."
According to the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Justice, Republic of Korea, among 2.5 million foreigners residing in South Korea, 271,000 are Vietnamese. The Vietnamese make up the second highest proportion among foreign communities in South Korea.
