Located in a high mountainous area, Pu Luong's climate is quite cool all year round. In the early morning, the valley at the foot of the mountain is often engulfed in fog. To get to Pu Luong, visitors can travel by two roads: from Mai Chau (Hoa Binh) or along Ho Chi Minh trail (through Cam Thuy, Thanh Hoa). (Photo: Tien Phong) |
In the afternoon, Pu Luong is full of wind, which is suitable for flying kites. Visitors and children in this village often get to the rocks between terraced fields for a "kite race". (Photo: Tien Phong) |

It was not until mid-September that the terraced fields here started to cultivate. The end of September to October is the time when the rice gets fully golden. The local people say that water in this area is very cold, resulting in late rice harvest. (Photo: Tien Phong) |
Most of the people here are of Thai ethnic group. Pu Luong locals live in stilt houses in the villages, cultivating rice on terraced fields, taking water from the mounds of streams flowing through the valley. (Photo: Tien Phong) |
In the past few years, Pu Luong tourism has started to develop with many accommodation and entertainment options for tourists such as resorts with swimming pools or homestays in the village. Visitors can easily rent a motorbike or car to explore this pristine mountainous area by going to the waterways, visiting the Hieu waterfall, Kho Muong village, entering bat caves or simply wandering on fascinating roads here.
