According to Skymet Weather, a feeble western disturbance is over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas. A cyclonic circulation is over central Pakistan and adjoining western part of Rajasthan. Another cyclonic circulation is persisting over Madhya Maharashtra.

A low level trough is extending from Kerala coast to cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra across interior Karnataka.

Scattered rain and thundershower activities are expected over North East India, Sikkim, West Bengal, eastern and Southern parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, east and South East MP, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, Karnataka, parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Isolated pockets of Madhya Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar Islands may also experience light rains.

Light rain and snow will also commence over parts of Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Ladakh. Rain and snow activities will increase over Western Himalayas after 24 hours.

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

According to Weather.com, parts of central and south India are expected to experience wet weather conditions for the next 24 hours. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a strong wind discontinuity in the lower levels over central India with moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move southwestward and persist during the next 24 hours. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is possible at isolated places of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and interior Karnataka during the next 24 hours. These aforementioned places are also likely to experience isolated thunderstorms and lightning along with rain in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, dense fog can be seen in some pockets of Punjab in the morning hours of Friday and Saturday. Dense fog is also expected in isolated pockets Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi in the morning hours of February 20.

In northeast India, Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience isolated snow due to the presence of feeble but persistent cyclonic circulation until Saturday.

Furthermore, a fresh western disturbance will impact the western Himalayan region from Saturday starting with isolated snow in Ladakh. Adjoining Jammu & Kashmir will also receive snow or rain from Sunday. This event is forecast to continue until the middle of the next week with some increase in intensity.

Maximum temperatures will be 4°C to 8°C below than normal across much of Maharashtra and Telangana on Friday. South Andhra Pradesh will also see lower maximums this weekend. Meanwhile, higher maximum temperatures are likely across north India during this forecast period. Warmer night temperatures are expected to continue over the plains of north India during the next 3-4 days. Minimum temperatures will be warmer than normal across much of the country during this forecast period.

Parts of North India, particularly the Western Himalayan region, are set to experience a fresh spell of rainfall and snowfall for the next five days starting Saturday, February 20.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), two back-to-back western disturbances will influence the weather in the northernmost parts of the country over this weekend and the beginning of next week.

The first western disturbance is likely to produce light to moderate, isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on Saturday and Sunday, February 20-21.

This system will immediately be followed by another western disturbance, which will affect the weather across the Western Himalayan Region from Monday, February 22. Under its influence, light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall, with isolated thunderstorms, lightning and hail, are all on the cards from Monday to Wednesday, Feb 22-24.

The Weather Channel’s met team has indicated that the rain and snow spell will begin on Sunday, and continue until the middle of next week with some increase in intensity.
