But temperatures in the northern plains will not fall immediately. “We are not expecting a fall in temperatures immediately because there are consecutive Western Disturbances which are affecting the Western Himalayas. Also, Delhi may see very light rain or drizzle on December 11 on account of a Western Disturbance that will affect the whole of northwest India. “Till at least December 12, there will be no significant change in the morning and night temperatures. Only after the passing of the WD, there could be a drop in temperature,” said Kuldeep Srivastava, head of IMD’s regional weather forecasting centre.

According Skymet Weather, the existing low-pressure area formed on the Gulf of Mannar has weakened further.

A cyclonic circulation is over the southeastern Arabian Sea and adjoining Maldives. A cyclonic circulation is active over the Indian Ocean near the equator and also on the southeastern Bay of Bengal.

An active Western Disturbance is seen over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining North Pakistan. Due to the effect of Western Disturbance, a cyclonic circulation has developed over Haryana and its adjoining areas.

During the next 24 hours, thunderstorms are expected to continue over the southern coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Heavy rainfall may occur at some places. Lakshadweep and South Interior Karnataka are likely to receive light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

Light to moderate rains and snow are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh and parts of Himachal Pradesh. In Uttarakhand, there are chances of rain and snow at one or two places.
