India weather forecast latest, January 16: North India braces for cold air while parts of South India experience wet weather
According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is over Comorin and adjoining Maldives. A trough is extending from this system to the south-western parts of the Bay of Bengal across southern coastal Tamil Nadu.
Cold and dry northwest winds are blowing over the states of northwest, central and eastern India.
During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rains are likely to continue over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and parts of Lakshadweep. Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places but there will be a decrease in the rain after 24 hours.
For the next 2 days, moderate to dense fog will prevail over the Gangetic plains of India, which may affect normal life.

An outbreak of cold wave along with North India will be seen in the Gangetic plains and eastern India from eastern Uttar Pradesh to Bihar. Day temperatures will also be below normal in all these areas.
Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Lakshadweep. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Kerala. Isolated rain/snow is possible over Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Isolated rain is expected over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Besides, dense to very dense fog is likely over a few places of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, over isolated places over Bihar and Sikkim. Dense fog is predicted over isolated pockets of north Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast
According to Weather.com, parts of south India are likely to experience wet weather conditions due to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea on Friday morning.
The system is likely to bring fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms over Lakshadweep on Friday and Saturday. Moreover, it will bring isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorms over parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep during the next 24 hours and a reduction in rainfall activities over these regions is expected thereafter.
Moreover, the IMD forecast states that the conditions are becoming favourable for a cessation of northeast monsoon rains over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe and adjoining areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka around January 19.

Minimum temperatures are higher than average over west India, south India, south-east India and northeast India on Friday and Saturday and across India from Sunday onward.
