Recently, Navigos Search published a report on the recruitment demand for middle and senior personnel in Vietnam in the fourth quarter of 2020 and recruitment trends in 2021.

Accordingly, this HR company said that despite being heavily influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic, Japanese manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam officially returned to operation and recruited from the fourth quarter of 2020. Some electrical and electronic enterprises increase production to meet market demand. Some other units, especially in the furniture industry, have even doubled their output from the pre-COVID period.

According to Navigos Search, Japanese manufacturers in electronic components and cars are planning to expand in 2021. In addition, many manufacturers from Europe, the USA, China, and Japan are also exploring the market to invest in factory construction and develop production and business activities in Vietnam, especially in the South. "As Ho Chi Minh City has not enough land left for construct companies, it is expected that they will expand into new industrial zones in Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Nai, and Can Tho", this unit assessed.

Vietnam is now the number 1 destination in attracting businesses from Japan as there are 37 leading enterprises from Japan is investing in Vietnam. (Photo: VCCI)

In fact, at the talks with Japanese enterprises in Vietnam at the end of 2020, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio also affirmed that Vietnam is now the number 1 destination in attracting businesses from Japan as there are 37 leading enterprises from Japan is investing in Vietnam, while Thailand ranks second with 19 enterprises.

However, Navigos Search believes that Japanese businesses are also gradually changing in how they select candidates. Instead of recruiting candidates who speak Japanese, these institutions also set a requirement for English. Job opportunities for people who only speak Japanese are significantly reduced in Japanese businesses, and wages are also much lower. In addition, prominent recruitment trends for 2021 are also indicated in the information technology, banking, and insurance industries.

From the fourth quarter of 2020, the information technology sector began to recover rapidly after Covid-19. Companies focus on recruiting high-quality personnel with the most up-to-date technology to increase the competitiveness of their products and services. "There is a company in this area that is in huge growth demand with plans to recruit 1,000 IT engineers by 2021", emphasized Navigos Search. Meanwhile, banks are also planning to recruit a large number of employees in customer relations and technology and data positions to serve the digital transformation process. In the insurance industry, as some companies have signed exclusive bancassurance contracts with banks, the demand for recruiting consultants to work full time and training experts increases.
