When seeing off the Prime Minister of Japan and his spouse at Noi Bai International Airport, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung affirmed that Vietnam was always a close friend of Japan, as well as expressed his hope that Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide would soon return to Vietnam.
Previously, Japan decided to provide emergency support materials to Vietnam to minimize the damage caused by heavy rain in Central Vietnam.
The Prime Minister of Japan and his wife officially visited Vietnam from October 18 to October 20. During his stay in Vietnam, Yoshihide held talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. He also visited the mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh and gave a speech at the Vietnam-Japan University. Meanwhile, Mrs. Mariko visited the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam and Vietnam Women's Museum.

At the meetings, both sides expressed their satisfaction with the strong and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Japan relations, with high political trust as well as mutual support and enhanced international collaboration in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. They agreed on orientations and measures that help deepen the Vietnam – Japan extensive strategic partnership.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide witnessed the exchange of documents signed between the ministries, agencies, localities, and enterprises of the two countries with a total value of nearly 4 billion USD.
