The 10^th Kien Giang provincial Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure on October 17^th elected its 56-member Executive Committee and a delegation to attend the 12^th National Party Congress including 17 official delegates and 2 alternate delegates.

During its first session, the Kien Giang provincial Party Executive Committee selected 16 members for the new Standing Board and 11 members to the Party Inspection Commission.

Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Party Central Committee alternate member and Deputy Secretary of the Kien Giang provincial Party Committee term IX and Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee was elected as Secretary of the provincial Party Committee for the current term.

In the next 5 years, the province has set a target of 8.5% in economic growth and a per capita income of USD3,000 by 2020.

The province will also strive to obtain a food productivity of 5 million tons, fisheries and aquaculture productivity of 755,000 tons, an increase in industrial production of 12% per year, export turnover of USD1 billion while creating jobs for 35,000-40,000 labourers per year and reducing the poverty rate by 1-1.5% per year.

In addition, the province worked out three breakthrough solutions for development, including increasing the quality of human resources and administrative reform; building the synchronous traffic infrastructure; and developing the Phu Quoc island district into a specialised economic zone./.
