Mid-Autumn Festival Held for Vietnamese Children in Singapore
The Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Singapore recently held a Mid-Autumn Festival for Vietnamese children living in Laos.
The Mid-Autumn or Full-moon Festival is celebrated annually on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month which falls on September 29 this year.
The festival attracts a large number of children and parents from the Vietnamese and Singaporean communities, as well as other foreign communities in Singapore.

Ta Thuy Lien, head of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Singapore, said that this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the special activities taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and 10 years of establishing strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.
The highlight is that the festival also has the active participation of a number of local friends with common traditions such as Singapore, Japan, and China, thereby promoting understanding and respect for the diverse cultures of Vietnam together.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the important annual events of the Vietnamese community in Singapore with the goal of helping children of Vietnamese and Vietnamese origin better understand about the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of cultural traditions of Vietnamese people; encourage the community to preserve the language and traditional Vietnamese cultural identity, closely connect, and focus on national roots.

Speaking at the festival, Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung hailed the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Singapore for their many preparation efforts over the past time to organize an elaborate and grand Mid-Autumn Festival.
Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung hopes that, not only on Mid-Autumn Festival or Children's Day on June 1 but on many other occasions, the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community, as well as parents, will always pay attention and organize many events for children because the preschool generation is the future of the country.
The Mid-Autumn Festival has many useful and fun traditional activities for children, such as making to he, making sticky rice cakes, painting conical hats, decorating lanterns, face painting, folk games such as tug of war, sack jumping, bamboo jumping, attract the large participation of not only children but also parents.

After the fun activities, the children also got to watch the lion dance and feast.
The festival ends with a music and dance performance program with the participation of children of Vietnamese origin and talented actors and singers from the Vietnamese community in Singapore, with the participation of the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre and the Japanese cultural group HIBIKIYA.
Meanwhile, on September 26 evening, the Association of Vietnamese People in Vientiane also held a Mid-Autumn Festival at Phat Tich pagoda for Vietnamese children living in Laos.
At the event, students of Nguyen Du Lao - Vietnamese Bilingual School and those from Ton Ca Kindergarten entertained visitors with joyful performances and a vibrant lion dance.
The organizers also presented 200 scholarships and gifts to Vietnamese children.
