The national weather service has forecast thunderstorms with moderate to very heavy rain on the occasion of the upcoming four-day holiday, reported Tien Phong newspaper.

National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) fall on Saturday and Sunday so that workers will have two more days off the following Monday (May 2) and Tuesday (May 3).

These holiday schedules are applied to cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers of administrative and public agencies, as well as political and socio-political organizations. Other agencies and organizations can create their own work plans, suitable to their demands.

Beneficiaries who work overtime or have night shifts on holidays and New Year’s Eve will be entitled to at least three times their normal daily salary, not including their daytime wage. Foreign workers working in Vietnam will also be entitled to have days off during Vietnam’s public holidays.

Under current regulations, if the holidays fall on weekends, people will have compensating days off, prolonging the holiday, creating conditions for travel and relaxation.

After that, around the night of April 30, the north could welcome a reinforced cold air. The north and north central region from April 30 to May 3 may experience showers and thunderstorms. The mountains and the northern midlands are likely to occur moderate to heavy rain and cool temperatures.

“During the holiday of April 30 and May 1, many dangerous weather patterns are likely to appear: Heavy rain in a large area in the North, Da Nang to Binh Thuan, the Central Highlands and the South. At sea, there is 40-60% change of forming a tropical depression/storm," emphasized Tran Hong Thai, director of the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology on April 25 meeting.

The National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting has forecast cloudy sky with no likelihood of rainfall in Da Nang City Monday into Friday (April 29). The city will see highs of 33 to 34 degrees Celsius and lows of 25 to 26 degrees.
