The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has just issued a plan to organize activities to care for union members and laborers on the occasion in 2022.

New Plans for Supporting Union Members in 2022
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is expected to spend VND2,400 billion (US$10,43 million) for union members and employees.

With the motto "All union members and employees have Tet", the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor suggested that Trade Unions at all levels, based on the pandemic in the locality, have plan for union members and employees on Tet holiday.

The Trade Union organizes activities to support union members and employees to ensure practicality and efficiency. Additionally, the organization makes sure union members are complying with regulations on pandemic prevention with the spirit of "safely adapting, and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic".

Regarding Tet, priority should be given to union members and employees who are in difficult circumstances, affected by the Covid-19 pandemic or other tragedies, those who belong to the families in difficult circumstances, or people who previously stayed to work and do not go home to celebrate Tet.

The Trade Union wishes for all members to have a safe and relaxing Tet season. In particular, special attention is paid to union members and employees who must be in isolation and blockade areas, infected with Covid-19 and treated at home or in medical facilities; those are in difficult circumstances or suffering from dangerous diseases.

The Union will organize transportation or support all or part of train, car, plane tickets, vehicles to bring union members and employees who need to return to their hometown to celebrate Tet. It will also implement pandemic prevention and control measures in accordance with the regulations.

One of the activities includes visiting and encouraging those who cannot return to their hometown to celebrate Tet. In case many union members and employees do not return to their hometown to celebrate Tet due to the Covid-19 situation or according to the requirements of pandemic prevention and control, the online program "Tet is not far from home" and other forms will be organized.

In addition, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also requested Trade Unions at all levels to work with the competent authorities to grasp the situation, inspect and supervise the employer in the implementation of the law on salary and bonus during Tet holiday; promptly detect and take measures to ensure the interests of employees in enterprises facing difficulties or affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Regarding resources to organize Tet for union members and employees, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested Trade Unions at all levels to implement the policy of socialization and mobilize resources to serve the plan in accordance with the provisions of law.

According to the plan of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, employees paying social insurance at the enterprise; employees in difficult circumstances are supported by the Trade Union at the rate of VND300,000 (US$13)/person. On this occasion, the Trade Union is expected to spend VND2,400 billion (US$10,43 million) to support about 8 million union members and employees.

For union members and employees in public administrative and non-business units, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested the trade union to balance financial sources to support them.
