The event was organized by the Department of Trade Promotion, Asia-Africa Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam Trade Office in Japan in collaboration with Tokyo SME Support Center, according to Financial Times.

At the conference, Vietnamese businesses in agricultural, forestry, fishery, food, consumer goods and medical products will introduce to Japanese importers of Vietnam's quality products. The products will be suitable with consumer demand and the supply chain in the Japanese market.

The promotion of exports of agricultural products together with improving processing capacity will bring Vietnam's agricultural products to the world in general and Japan in particular. This will also affirm the position of Vietnamese agricultural products in the global value chains and develop competitiveness in the agricultural markets.

Both Vietnam and Japan are members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in which Japan agrees to immediately eliminate import duties for many of Vietnam’s key agricultural products, such as coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, fresh vegetables, and processed and canned fruit products, once the deal takes effect, the ministry said.

This event will pave the way and offer opportunity for the two countries to promote cooperation in potential areas, increase the import and export turnover of goods between Vietnam and Japan, enhance investment cooperation, technology transfer, cooperation and exchange, also improve the experts experience in vocational training for agricultural workers between Vietnam and Japan in the coming time.

Additionally, Japan also has a great demand for medical products to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Vietnam has about 200 enterprises producing Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control items, such as face masks, medical gloves and goggles, and personal protective equipment.

The participation in trade is not only an opportunity to boost exports for agricultural and food businesses, but also helps Vietnamese businesses to explore the Japanese market and seek buyers, VNA reported.
