May 30 is the first surgery day of Operation Smile’s second medical mission in 2020 which is being organized at University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City.
This mission is generously sponsored by Repsol Vietnam, BBGV, Valentino Creations, MSC, DXC and OPV.
It is the first surgical mission in the Southern region and also the second mission of the year which was held at the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City.
No fresh coronavirus case was recorded on June 1, marking the 46th consecutive day the country has gone without community transmission. However, Operation Smile Vietnam, together with the center and sponsors still strictly followed control and prevention procedures in accordance to Vietnamese Government’s recommendations as well as safety guidance from the Ministry of Health (MoH).
In celebration of International Children's Day, the University Medical Center, Operation Smile Vietnam and Vietcombank on May 30 have presented gifts to 45 children with harelip and cleft palate, child patients being treated at the center's Department of Cardiovascular Surgery.

According to Operation Smile’s newsfeed, the first 2020 mission in the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital has completed with 80 children being examined and 61 of them were eligible to undergo surgeries so far.
Since its establishment in 1982, Operation Smile — through the help of dedicated medical volunteers — has provided 220,000 free surgical procedures for children and young adults. Particularly in Vietnam, Operation Smile has helped changing lives for approximately 60,000 under-privileged children.
Besides humanitarian surgery programs, Operation Smile also supports improving the quality of health through hundreds of training courses, scientific conferences and medical exchanges for doctors and specialists. In addition, Operation Smile also cooperated with the MoH to help create Safe Surgical Standards, which will be officially applied in more than 1,450 hospitals across the country./.
