On the afternoon of September 13, in Hanoi, Deputy Foreign Minister, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, on behalf of the Vietnamese community in Laos, Japan, and the Russian Federation, presented more than VND 600 million to the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien to support compatriots in the country affected by Typhoon Yagi.

At the ceremony, reporting to the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that upon receiving news that Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi) had caused damage and greatly affected the lives of people in the country, the Vietnamese expats immediately organized a fundraising campaign for flood victims in Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister shared that these are the first donations from overseas Vietnamese through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to be transferred to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support people in flood-hit areas. Currently, the donation movement is continuing to spread strongly in communities in other countries.

The amount of donations, although not much, shows the sympathy and sharing of overseas Vietnamese for their compatriots in the country. The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will continue to be a bridge to transfer the sentiments and support of overseas Vietnamese to people in flood-hit areas.

On behalf of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the people affected by natural disasters, President Do Van Chien thanked and appreciated the sentiments and timely sharing of overseas Vietnamese with the difficulties of their compatriots in the country. This also demonstrates the spirit of "the Overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the nation”. He also said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front is committed to transferring the support money of Vietnamese expats to the right address.

At the meeting, Chien also shared about the situation of relief activities for people affected by Typhoon No. 3. He said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front is coordinating

with relevant agencies to transport necessities such as food, drinking water, vegetables... to people in areas affected by natural disasters such as Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Yen Bai... He expressed his wish to continue receiving the sharing and cooperation of overseas Vietnamese for people in flood-affected areas.
