The board also said that while the ceremony is annually held online, this year, due to the support from the member board in Laos, the Vietnamese Association in Laos, and the Vietnamese Association in Vientiane, Viet expats in Laos can organize an in-person ceremony.
According to the Organizing Committee, Germany and Laos were chosen because both countries are home to a large number of Vietnamese. They both have strong, passionate, and responsible Global Vietnam Fatherland Day Project Boards and receive funds from donors to hold the in-person events.
