The Thailand-Laos Overseas Vietnamese Association of Phu Tho Province recently held a meeting to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the traditional day (March 21, 1946 - March 21, 2023).
Attending were Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and chairman of the Association for Liason with Overseas Vietnamese; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee for Mass Mobilization, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and representatives of the Thailand-Laos Overseas Vietnamese Association of northern provinces and cities.
At the meeting, delegates and members reviewed the anniversary 63 years ago, when President Ho Chi Minh returned to Hai Phong to welcome Thai expatriates back to the country to build and defend the Fatherland is a milestone in the Party's foreign affairs. That sentiment of his has been deeply engraved in the hearts of Thailand-Laos overseas Vietnamese.
During the years of resistance war, President Ho Chi Minh started the construction of the Overseas Vietnamese National Salvation Association and built schools for overseas Vietnamese children to study in the host country. Meanwhile, the Overseas Vietnamese National Salvation Association has been active in public and in secret; and has constantly strengthened patriotism, gathered Vietnamese communities into a united bloc, and raised donations for medicines and money to buy weapons and deliver them to the Vietnamese resistance force.
Inheriting and promoting that tradition, the Thailand-Laos Overseas Vietnamese Association of Phu Tho has been constantly developing, self-reliance, and economic development, mobilizing the young generation to become new members.
Up to now, the association's eight branches have more than 240 members, organizing many practical activities such as humanitarian charity, supporting the Fund for the Poor, Covid-19 Prevention Fund, and people suffering from natural disasters; visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiary families.
