People-to-people Exchanges: Cementing Friendship Between Vietnam and Brazil

This was the speech of Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) at the meeting with Eduardo Paes Saboia, secretary for Asia and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil on June 6 in Hanoi.
Attending the meeting were Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Farani, Nguyen Thac Dinh, vice president of Vietnam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association, Bui Van Nghi, head of VUFO's Americas Department.
At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga and Eduardo Paes Saboia, secretary for Asia and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Marco Farani discussed the main topics of the bilateral agenda, coordination in international affairs and preparations for the visits of senior leaders may take place in the near future.
Nguyen Phuong Nga introduced to Eduardo Paes Saboia and Marco Farani about VUFO and the Vietnam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association, about friendship and cooperation activities between the two countries over the years.
VUFO and the Vietnam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association will further promote the role of people-to-people diplomacy in service of the country's economic, cultural and social development, and improve the quality of research, consultation, and forecast.
At the same time, VUFO expands its network of partners with research institutes, universities, businesses, people's organizations, and the Vietnamese community living and working in Brazil.
VUFO President wishes that Brazil will become a bridge between Vietnam and Latin American countries as well as Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR).
She asked the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Brazilian Embassy in Vietnam to support and promote people-to-people exchanges, cultural, educational, artistic, sports and academic exchanges between the two countries.
Nga wanted them to continue promoting and supporting the exchange of delegations between the two countries, including delegations of people's organizations and businesses. This facilitates the sharing of experiences and cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and high technology.

For his part, Saboia said, the people of the two countries need more opportunities to get to know each other and shorten the distance.
Vietnam and Brazil will have practical and meaningful activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the two countries' establishment of diplomatic relations. In his position, he will try to promote exchange and cooperation activities in fields suggested by the President of VUFO.
