At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his delight at Laos's socioeconomic, defense and security achievements. He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and promotes strategic relations and comprehensive cooperation with the Lao Party, State, and people.
The National Assembly Chairman said that in recent times, exchanges and delegations at all levels and high levels between the two countries have taken place regularly according to signed agreements from the Party and State channels, including the National Assembly, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations as well as sectors and levels at the central and local levels.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that Vietnam has been supporting Laos' international role in 2024 such as ASEAN Chair 2024, and Chair of the 45th AIPA General Assembly.
Alongside the Party and State channels, cultural exchanges are crucial, providing a solid foundation for the development of both countries, he noted. Man also hailed the successful talks between the Vietnam Peace Committee, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, and the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity, where the sides agreed on six key areas to further enhance cooperation.
Looking ahead, the top legislator proposed increasing exchanges of delegations at all levels, as well as historical and cultural education for the youth of both nations to deepen their understanding of the countries’ great friendship.

The two sides closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral mechanisms, and people's forums in the region and the world, increase information and experience exchanges, and make substantial contributions to the development of Vietnam and Laos. The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations share experiences with Laos in establishing the Lao Union of Friendship Organizations.
For his part, the Lao official said Vietnam’s regional and global role and stature have been elevated, guided by the country’s bamboo diplomacy.
He also informed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man about the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in Laos. In particular, the Lao National Assembly has deployed and applied many lessons learned from the Vietnamese National Assembly in performing its assigned functions and tasks.

Notably, during his recent visit to Laos, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh attended and chaired a workshop on experiences in amending the Constitution, and legislative research organized by the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Lao National Assembly. Accordingly, he shared and assisted the Lao National Assembly in the process of amending the Constitution.
He affirmed that the Lao NA would continue to work closely with the Vietnamese counterpart to implement cooperation agreements signed between the two countries and expressed his wish for the latter’s further cooperation and support for Laos’ ASEAN/AIPA Chair in 2024.
