“Vietnam through the lens of foreign photographers” - A contest by Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition

A photo contest running with the theme of “Vietnam through the lens of foreign photographers” has been launched by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, reported VOV.

The competition is part of the first Vietnam International Photography Festival which is scheduled get underway in Ninh Binh province.

The event is open to Vietnamese and foreign amateur and professional photographers to submit their works that showcase the beauty of Vietnamese land and people.

How to register:

All entries must be sent to the organizing board’s email address photofestival2021vn@gmail.com efore August 20. Each photographer is permitted to send a maximum of 20 photos.

Following the conclusion of the competition, a total of 250 winning works will be put on display at an exhibition held in Ninh Binh in early November.

Logo design contest for "Vietnam International Photography Festival"

The Vietnam International Photography Festival is taking place as part of a range of activities during the 2021 National Tourism Year in Ninh Binh and aims to develop the brand of Vietnamese photography. This will thereby help to promote the country’s image whilst simultaneously enhancing international exchanges through photography.

A design contest was launched last week to look for a logo suitable for the upcoming photography festival which is open to all individuals and organizations in both Vietnam and abroad.

The selected logo will be used in the communication efforts to promote the festival, which will be held every two years in whichever locality is hosting the “National Tourism Year”. First, second and third prizes to be awarded VND 30 million (US$ 1,304), VND 10 million (US$ 435) and VND 5 million (US$217) in cash respectively.

How to register:

Applicants can send a maximum of five entries in A4 to the photography department at the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, at No.38 Cao Ba Quat Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, until July 30.

Entries must feature no more than four colors and should be suitable for printing and carving. They must also be creative and not duplicated from any other product. Each entrant is only permitted to send in a maximum of five entries.

A photo contest and exhibition on national tangible cultural heritage

This May, the first-ever photo contest and exhibition on national tangible cultural heritage was also opened for both amateur and professional photographers, who are Vietnamese citizens or expats living in Vietnam of 18 years of age and above, reported VNA.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the contest seeks valuable photographic works depicting various types of Vietnam's tangible cultural heritage and popularise the cultural, scientific, historical and aesthetic values of the heritages to Vietnamese people and international friends.

The results of the contest will be announced on the media and the website of the Department of Cultural Heritage.

Prize-winning works and selected entries will be displayed at the exhibition and printed in a photo book with the theme "Vietnam cultural heritage”.

How to register:

The entries (printed photos with files stored on CD/DVD, USB) should be submitted until September 30, by email to dsvh@bvhttdl.gov.vn or by post and in-person to the Organising Committee at Department of Cultural Heritage, 51 Ngo Quyen, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.

Each participant is allowed to submit more than one entries (maximum 10 photos). Each set of photos is considered an entry, consisting of 5 - 10 photos.

The participant must number the images in the set of images. Each entry (single photo/set) must be accompanied by the name of the cultural heritage, the title of the subject and a description of the content of the work (not exceeding 200 words).
