Phu Tho Attracts Overseas Vietnamese to Return to Ancestral Land

On October 4, Phu Tho Union of Friendship Organizations held the 3rd Congress of Delegates for the term 2023-2028, setting out many key tasks for the work of the Union in the coming time.

The Congress was attended by many delegates of the Phu Tho Union of Friendship Organizations. President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son also participated and delivered a speech.

Key tasks for the 2023-2028 term

At the Congress, delegates presented the report, stating one main task of the Union was to attract overseas Vietnamese to return to their ancestral land. It is said that the Phu Tho Union of Friendship Organizations has organized many activities such as the “Vietnam Summer Camp” for overseas Vietnamese youth, “Vietnam Ancestral Global Day” to commemorate Hung King's death anniversary abroad, “Ancestral Land Spring” to welcome overseas Phu Tho people return to the homeland to celebrate Tet. The Union has also established and consolidated the Liaison Committee for overseas Vietnamese.

In the work of peace, solidarity, friendship, and cooperation, Phu Tho Union of Friendship Organizations will develop friendship and cooperation with sister localities in other countries, and expand relationships with countries in the region and around the world, especially countries that have Provincial Friendship Associations.

Regarding foreign non-governmental aid mobilization, the Union strives to carry out projects for disadvantaged people in the province such as orphans, the elderly who have no support, people with disabilities, people in extremely difficult circumstances, etc.

The Union will also focus on building and developing a strong organizational structure in the 2023-2028 term, organize training classes, and participate in training classes hosted at the central and provincial level for leaders and officials working on people-to-people diplomacy to improve foreign language and other skills.

Member friendship organizations will also be developed in both quality and quantity, to enhance interaction with member Friendship Associations of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Phu Tho and other provinces.

Exchange information periodically

Speaking at the Congress, President of VUFO Phan Anh Son referred to new requirements in the people-to-people diplomacy work to adapt to rapidly changing contexts at global, regional, and national levels. Phu Tho Union of Friendship Organizations needs to organize information exchange sessions with the Standing Committee, Executive Committee, or leaders of member associations to have effective and practical activities.

President Phan Anh Son requested the Union of Friendship Organizations of Phu Tho to consider and expand its organization, especially in the context of Vietnam's new transition and development in foreign relations with other countries.

In foreign non-governmental work, it is necessary to promote the strengths of individuals in the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Union of Provincial Friendship Organizations to have specific programs and projects; coordinate with departments and units of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations; actively, proactively, and thoughtfully in receiving international delegations, thereby opening up new economic cooperation opportunities.

VUFO President Phan Anh Son requested the new Board of Leaders of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Phu Tho province to set out the overall goals for the term 2023-2028, especially an action plan to complete the Congress resolutions and specific goals for each year.

At the Congress, President Phan Anh Son awarded the VUFO noble medal "for peace and friendship between peoples" to 6 people and Certificates of Merit for 8 groups and individuals that have made great contributions to the people-to-people diplomacy work of Phu Tho for the 2018-2023 term.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of Phu Tho Union of Friendship Organizations for the term 2023 - 2028. Du Van Quang, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Phu Tho was re-elected Chairman of the Union for this term.
