The ceremony was co-organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in France, authorities of Marseille city, and representatives from the French Communist Party and La Marseillaise newspaper, VNA reported.

In his remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang thanked and highly appreciated the warm sentiments of leaders and people of Marseille, who consider the commemorative plaque as part of the city's cultural heritage.

Thang said the event contributes to keeping memories of President Ho Chi Minh, while demonstrating the special relations between Vietnam and Marseille.

Leaders of the French Communist Party and the newspaper expressed their respect for the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people.

Echoing Thang’s views, they said the plaque showed the sentiments, friendship and solidarity of people in Marseille and France in general with the Vietnamese people, according to NDO.

On May 15 last year, the Vietnamese Embassy in France and the authorities of Montreuil City held a ceremony on May 15 to offer flowers at the Ho Chi Minh statue at the city’s Montreau Park to mark the 130th anniversary of the President’s birthday.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Thiep thanked the authorities of Montreuil city for holding such a special ceremony, which expressed the time-honoured friendship between generations of the French and Vietnamese peoples.

He emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh, a hero of national liberation and a man of culture, devoted his whole life to the cause of national liberation. He led the nation of Vietnam in achieving various victories on the road to socialism.

Mayor of Montreuil City Patrice Bessac offered his congratulations on President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and expressed his honour to be participating in the celebration of the former President’s birthday.

On May 19, 2005, the Montreuil city government built a bust of President Ho Chi Minh in "Ho Chi Minh Space" at the city's History Museum, which is a place to keep Uncle Ho’s memorabilia from his time in France. This is the place where officials of Vietnam's representative agencies and overseas Vietnamese in France offer incense to Uncle Ho on every occasion of May 19, VGP reported.

Many other places in the world from Asia, Europe to Africa, America have erected monuments of President Ho Chi Minh to commemorate the world's cultural celebrity.

India: Monument to President Ho Chi Minh in Kolkata city. In addition, there are also many "Ho Chi Minh Park" and "Ho Chi Minh Peace Park" in many other states.

Argentina: Monument to President Ho Chi Minh in Buenos Aires.

Cuba: Bronze monument to President Ho Chi Minh at the Peace Park next to Avenue 26, one of the most beautiful parks in the center of La Havana, designed by architect Joel Diaz, Vice President of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, inaugurated in 2003, on the occasion of the 113th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

Dominican Republic: Square and Monument to President Ho Chi Minh in the capital Santo Domingo was inaugurated on September 13, 2012.

Hungary: Monument to President Ho Chi Minh was erected in 1976 at Zalaegerszey Park, about 220km from Budapest.

Madagascar: Bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh was placed on a granite pedestal with a total height of 3.4m in Ho Chi Minh Park. Below the statue, there is a bronze plaque engraved with his eternal words: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom". In addition, there is also a boulevard named after Ho Chi Minh in Antananarivo.

Mexico: Statue of President Ho Chi Minh next to a simple rattan table and chairs, behind the golden words "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" in Spanish with his signature, placed on January 16, 2009 in the park "Freedom for all peoples", in the capital Mexico city.

The monument to President Ho Chi Minh in the city of Acapulco of Guerrereo state in Southern Mexico is located opposite the monument of Latin American national hero Simon Bolivar, at Miguel Aleman Avenue, the main and largest avenue of the city of Acapulco.

Ho Chi Minh is also the name of a lecture hall at UNAM University (once among the top most prestigious universities in the world), the name of the system of acupuncture centers for the poor in the Mexican capital, Zacatecas city and Monterrey city.

Mongolia: The bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh is 1.7m high, placed on a 3.33m pedestal, at Ho Chi Minh High School in Ulan Batar capital. In addition to the statue, there are many documents and objects about President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary life and the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia.

Russia: Ho Chi Minh Square and monument are located at the intersection between Dmitri Ulianov Street and the street "Sixty years of October Revolution" in Moscow. This is the work of Vladimir Efimovich Tsigal, a People's Artist and an Academician of the Academy of Fine Arts of the Soviet Union, author of more than 40 famous monument groups.

Ho Chi Minh Boulevard and Monument in located on the banks of the Volga River in Zasviyazhski district, Ulyanovsk city, Lenin's hometown.

Philippines: The statue of President Ho Chi Minh at Laguna State Polytechnic University in Manila was inaugurated on the occasion of Uncle Ho’s 120th birthday.

The statue of President Ho Chi Minh at ASEAN Park in Intramuros old town in Manila, was inaugurated on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Vietnam - Philippines diplomatic relation establishment (October 10, 2011).

Singapore: The memorial board and statue of President Ho Chi Minh at the Asian Civilizations Museum Park, on the banks of the Singapore River, was inaugurated in May 2008 on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh’s 118th birthday and the 35th anniversary of Vietnam - Singapore diplomatic relation establishment.

The statue of President Ho Chi Minh is the first monument in the program honoring "Friends who come to our shores" of Singapore, inaugurated in 2011.

Venezuela: The bust of President Ho Chi Minh is solemnly placed on a 2m high stone pedestal and a flagpole with the Vietnamese national flag on Simon Bolivar Avenue of Caracas.
