Seven tourist-attracting lakes in Vietnam
Ba Be Lake (Bac Kan): Ba Be Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam and one of the 100 largest lakes in the world, formed over 200 million years ago. The name “Ba Be” derived from the fact that the lake itself is actually three small ones joined together- Pe Lam, Pe Lu, and Pe Leng.

One of the best ways to get a feel for the area on arrival is by boat on one of the three lakes - kayaks for the more adventurous or guided motorboat tours for those who wish to unwind a little. Nature endowed Ba Be Lake with a variety of magnificent waterfalls and majestic limestone caves that lure any tourists.

Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi) is a natural freshwater lake located in the heart of the capital, linked to the legend that Le Loi Emperor returned the magical sword for the golden turtle. Amid the lake lies a small island with an ancient building called the “Turtle Tower”. Another island is known as Jade Island, accessible by the iconic The Huc Bridge. At the weekend, the walking streets around Hoan Kiem Lake become more crowded as people flock here to participate in interesting activities like street music or folk games.

Cover the area of 500 hectares with the charming natural scenery, West Lake is an ideal rendezvous of Hanoian, especially at sunset. T’Nung Lake (Ea Nueng Lake) is the volcanic plateau inactivated for millions of years located about 7 km from north of the Pleiku city center. The beauty of T’Nung Lake has enchanted numerous tourists not only by its emerald water but also by the convergence of a wide range of brilliantly-colored flowers, birds, and precious fishes. For that reason, it is dubbed as “the Pearl of Pleiku”.

Situated in the center of Da Lat, Xuan Huong Lake is one of the “must-visit” places when traveling to Da Lat. It is an artificial lake, with the area of about 32 hectares, lies at an altitude of 1,478 m above sea level, has long been renowned for its splendid pine forests, green lawns, and wonderful flower gardens.

The lake covers a big area of 323 square kilometers as it aims to store water for Tri An hydroelectric dam.
