Singing Competition Connects Vietnamese Communities Across Europe
The final round of the first European Golden Voice Competition was recently held at the SAPA shopping mall in Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. In this round, 17 participants were selected, representing the Vietnamese communities in European countries such as the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Norway.
This was one of the large-scale cultural events held by the Vietnamese Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic, with support from the Union of Vietnamese People Associations in Europe and the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic. The event aimed to strengthen the bond between the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and across Europe.
The event was attended by Ambassador of Vietnam to the Czech Republic Thai Xuan Dung, President of the Union of Vietnamese People Associations in Europe Hoang Dinh Thang, representatives of the Vietnamese Association and the Vietnamese Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic and overseas Vietnamese in Europe.

In his opening speech, Thang noted that the Union of Vietnamese People Associations in Europe was elated to sponsor the event. The event was not only aimed to discover new talents but also to tighten the bond and solidarity amongst the Vietnamese community in Europe and with the homeland, he added.
On his part, Ambassador Xuan Dung praised the efforts and role of the Vietnamese Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic, especially the event organizers, in promoting art movements as Covid had been controlled in the Czech Republic.
The ambassador expressed his hope that the Union of Vietnamese People Associations in Europe and the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic would continue to support the Vietnamese Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic in holding meaningful cultural events.
According to the event organizers, the competition received entries from over 17,000 participants from 17 European countries. The preliminary rounds were held online over two years to select 17 finalists.
The topics chosen by the participants were diverse, ranging from the sentiments towards the homeland and President Ho Chi Minh to the feelings for Hanoi and other localities in Vietnam.
The Golden Voice of Europe was not purely a simple playground for artistic talents but also a place for the overseas Vietnamese in Europe to support each other to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.

The organizers gave the special prize to Tran Phuong Quyen from the Czech Republic, along with 3 golden prizes, 5 silver prizes and 7 bronze prizes.
Perhaps, however, the greatest prize of the night for the Vietnamese community in Europe was the unforgettable memories about the solidarity amongst overseas Vietnamese.
Previously, the Vietnamese Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic held an event to celebrate Hanoi’s 67th liberation anniversary at the SAPA Shopping Mall.
Together, the attendants reminisced about the capital city as they marveled at the replication of a corner of Hanoi and enjoyed songs about Hanoi performed by amateur Vietnamese singers across Europe.
According to the President of the Vietnamese Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic Pham Gia Hau, the event was held annually to recall memories about the capital city, contributing to enhancing the attachment of the overseas Vietnamese community with the homeland.
This year, the event was attended by the Vietnamese community living in different European countries such as France, Germany, Norway, Slovakia and Hungary.
