At the French-Vietnamese Medical Conference, Nguyen Thuy Anh, president of the Vietnam-France Friendship and Cooperation Association said the year 2023 has special significance for the two countries.
The two countries together celebrated 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership.
Those 50 years proved the uniqueness of a relationship between two peoples that overcame the ups and downs of history to move towards the future, on the basis of friendship and cooperation, to become special partners to each other.
During those challenging periods of history, it was the first exchanges on health that sowed the seeds of solidarity and attachment between the two countries' people.
There are many projects to train, exchange experts and medical equipment, including internship programs, university/inter-university degrees, support for establishing centers, and French University Hospital (CHU) in Hanoi.
They not only contribute to modernizing Vietnam's healthcare system but also enable knowledge transfer and training of a team of competent Vietnamese doctors.
Specifically, about 3,000 Vietnamese interns and doctors were trained within the framework of cooperative projects, many of whom have become outstanding experts in their fields, holding leadership positions of hospitals, medical schools, and medical faculties.
